Day 3
Thursday, March 5, 2009

we had our very first lesson today. (:
it was supposed to be at 9am but there were some miscommunication.
the class then started at 1pm instead.

our IS lecturer, Sally.
i really love the way she teaches.
she speaks fluent english and it makes communication with her much more easier.
not only that, what i admire most about her is her humbleness. (:
something that i believe all of us should inculcate in ourselves.

being humble about who we are and what we have is important especially when we are in foreign countries.
we wouldn't want to send wrong messages to the locals saying that we are better than them in every way; which is of course isn't true at all.
different people have different capabilities.
they may be good at something which we are unfamiliar with and vice versa.
its time to stop thinking that we are always good in everything because we may be wrong too.
we are only humans, aren't we? (:

about the lesson?
it was definitely enriching. (:
the history, festivals, geography; they were really interesting.
but the one that caught my attention was this:
the Chinese actually has their own Chinese Valentines Day.
it falls on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month.
and i thought everyone in the world celebrates Valentines Day on 14 Feb.
hahahahaha.

4 hours of lecture was quite tiring for us because we were filled in with so much information.
therefore, during breaks, we would randomly take some photos to entertain ourselves.
but more importantly, it was to keep ourselves awake and last throughout the rest of the lecture.
hahahaha.

after class, some of them wanted to go to the Singapore Town.
however, nadiyah and i decided to just stay around and eat at the usual place.
and that was the first time we went there without anyone helping us to order.
hahahahahaha.
it was kind of awkward initially but we got by quite easily too.
xinhui actually taught us to say wh
at we wanted to order, which is egg noodles.
so before we went there, we practised saying  "ji dan mian".

fortunately, we successfully got what we wanted. (:
it looks so appetizing!
but i still miss Singapore food though.

it was a short and simple day. (:
